Today’s main point comes from an all-too-familiar narrative: not accepting help when offered. Maybe it’s pride or hustle culture or embarrassment or perceptions of social constructs, but some people are really bad at doing this, myself included. Maybe it feels like some kind of surrender…maybe because it is. I do not have all the answers, but I figure that if we relied on God more and ourselves less, we’d do fewer dumb things.
Here’s the post from June 14, 2023.
“👟 RSD 1142 ✅ Today’s Verse: “Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God.” — Psalm 42:11
When life gets rough 🐶, try God. 🕊️
I mean, seriously, that’s what you do. It’s wayyy easier said than done. The praying part isn’t the hard part: you can literally just ask God for whatever you need. The hard part is leaving it with God. Hey, I don’t do it very well either, but that’s what you’re supposed to do. It’s like if you have a lot groceries you’re carrying out and you run into a good friend in the parking lot. Your friend says, “Hey, let me help you with that. I parked right next to you anyway, so we’re walking together.” Then you say, “Nah, fam, I got it.” one bag busts then you drop other stuff trying to get the stuff that fell out And, all the time, you really could’ve just handed a bag or two to your friend. Dumb, huh? But, that’s what we do. We ALL do it—I’m probably the worst. And, here’s the really dumb part: God is strong enough to take all the bags, and I’m still waddling across the parking lot. Not smart. But, it’s human, and God knows that. Maybe if we keep trying, and try a little more trust, we can eventually do a better job of getting the groceries to the car.
The pic I chose is a screenshot of one of my running songs from today. If you ever need a “pick me up” from the music scene, Motown is a good way to go. Keep praying, keep the faith—try God, and “get ready” to see what good can happen. See what I did there? 😉”
